An update on coronavirus
We understand COVID-19 has financially impacted many people and businesses, and that you may be having difficulty as a result. We will use this page to make you aware of what help and support is available, and to give you updates on our services. Don’t worry, we are here to help and we have a range of supports available.
You may be aware that banks, including Lombard as part of Ulster Bank, were offering a three month COVID-19 Payment Break, with the option to extend that by a further three months. This special payment break was different to other payment breaks because it had no impact on a customer’s credit rating. The European Banking Authority set a deadline for applications for these COVID-19 Payment Breaks of 30th September 2020. That deadline has passed and COVID-19 Payment Breaks are no longer available for those customers that sought their first / new applications. However, we understand you may still be experiencing financial difficulty, and so we have a range of other supports available to help you.

Appeal a lending decision
As part of our commitment to you we provide a transparent and open appeals process.
Whether you have:
- Applied for lending and your application has been declined or
- Applied for lending and you feel the terms of approval are unacceptable or
- Your existing facilities have been reduced or withdrawn.
If your appeal is not successful you may, subject to eligibility, refer your case to the Credit Review Office. Please take time to review the eligibility criteria set by the Credit Review Office by referring to their website or brochure below:
Eligibility
- Your business is an SME*
- You have made a formal lending request to Ulster Bank
- Your appeal relates to a lending application declined / approved in the last 30 days
- Your lending request was for an amount between €1,000 and €3,000,000
- Your lending request does not relate to Business Credit Cards
* An SME is defined by the EU as a business with less than 250 employees, turnover of less than €50 million and/or balance sheet less than €43 million
